Hey portlandstuck. I told you to expect some more from me, and then I promptly got swamped with homework and didn’t put out another message for like, a month. Judging from some of the response to that last message, you’ve gotten some new members, or maybe not everyone knows who I am, so I thought I’d do a bit of an introduction with this.
Hi. I’m Travis, also known as Rav-T, HiddenKrypt (moderator on /r/homestuck), or mostly amongst you guys, Dad.
I spent a wonderful few months in Portland, and got to enjoy what little time I had hanging out with Portlandstuck. However, my internship came to an end, and I’ve since moved back to my home in Marquette, MI.
I promised to keep in touch, and I’m sorry, as I’ve kinda done a shit job at it. Like I said before, I have some excuses, though they’re not all great ones. When I left I had to return my company laptop. As my own PC exploded shortly before I lcame to Oregon, this left me without a computer of my own. I was able to use my wifes, but only when she didn’t need or want to use it, and that’s until it got a bad virus infection. And then my wifi router burned out (literal puff of smoke). I still had my cell phone, which worked ok for internet for a while, until the screen broke. Seriously, I have some sort of technology curse, and as a CompSci major who worked for Intel, that is a scary proposition.
However, most of the problems got worked out and I got internet again. By that point I had put off saying anything to you guys for so long it sorta became habit. I want to fix that.
So I have a working phone again. I also have a new-ish laptop from my school. I still have some of your phone numbers, but Bobby needs to send me more drunk texts because for some reason his number didn’t survive the transfer to a new phone. Also, random Bobby texts are hilarious, drunk or not.
Mariska, Kaze: I would tell you to keep doing an awesome job wrangling the circus of homestucks, but I know I don’t need to. I’m proud of you both. Oh, and Kaze; I’m still working on that bead thing for you. I accidentally made the design bigger than I expected, and some bastard used up my grey beads so it’s going to be a while. (I am the bastard that used up the beads)
I don’t miss Portland nearly as much as I miss Portlandstuck. I got some letters / postcards from your guys, and they really made my heart ache for the fun we had. Seriously, I miss you guys. The other day I was watching some shitty movie that I din’t really care about, but then the characters were fucking around and talking on the roof of a parking complex at night, and I was suddenly hit in the feels with memories. I hope to return one day… and we will draw on the sidewalks again my friends.
So here’s the plan from my end:
- I’m going to do some more posts with what I’ve been up to out here. You know, if you guys care about that sort of thing. I dunno.
- I hope to get another internship with Intel for this summer. If I do, it will be in Portland. Also, my wife wants to come with.
- The fact that I’ve done one internship with them means there’s a very real chance that I can get hired with them when I graduate. My wife and I are hoping for this, and to move to the PDX area more or less permanently.
- I’ll be putting together a “care package” for you guys to open some saturday. Until I find a way back, you can consider me your group pen-pal.
I hope you’re all doing well, and I still hate tumblr.
(Expect more from me soon. Sorry I’ve been incommunicado. I have reasons, though only a few are good excuses. - Dad)
So I’m almost done. Today was my last day of work. Got most my packing finished. Tomorrow I finish the rest. Only two more fun things
before I go.
At the portlandstuck meetup last week we discussed a little plan for Friday, so here it is: Arcade Thunder. 21+ meetup at Ground Kontrol for booze and vidya gaems. I’ll be there around 4pm, so any youngsters can meet then if they want. But remember, GK goes 21+ after 5, and I’m doing this for booze so I’ll be staying there after they kick out the underaged kids.
Note, I won’t be getting trashed, or staying too late. I have to fly the next day.
Speaking of, I will be attending the Saturday portlandstuck thing, at least for a little while. I fly at 10:50, so I need to be at the airport around 9:30 just to be safe.
My god, tumblr is even more useless on a mobile device…
I actually just bought this on vinyl a few days ago. Love this album.
flogging molly | selfish man
propelled through all this madness by your beauty and my sadness / i’ll never change or rearrange till i’ve finished what i’ve started.
So, soon I will be returning to the land of frost and pasties, returning home after six months of exile to be with my wife and friends. When I started this blog, tit was meant to be a way to keep in touch with those I left behind. I fully expected to leave it to rot and languish when I returned to Michigan, after all, I’m not in Portland anymore so I don’t need to run a blog.
All that changed when I went to Portlandstuck. Now I’m actually going to miss this place, and I have a reason to keep this tumblr going. I have friends that I’m leaving behind again. I’ll probably make a more heart wrenching goodbye post later, after the last meetup on Sunday.
I thought it would be a good idea to blog about my itinerary.
Unless something else comes up, I’ll be downtown in Portland on the 2nd, going to powell’s and ground kontrol. If I finish my packing, getting everything so that I can leave with a minimal fuss and get onthe plane and go, then thursday and friday, 7th and the 8th, I will be be free for whatever. If anybody wants to hang out with me on any of these days, send me an ask, or call me, or message me on reddit, plurk, skype, or something. My username is the same almost everywhere.
Saturday the 9th is my flight. it was going to be Friday, but it got changed. I fly out at fucking 10:50 PM. What the crap. Technically I’ll be free for most of saturday, but I don’t want to drag my luggage around. Similarly, I don’t want to sit around in Hillsboro all day and take the Max all the way to the airport just to leave. If someone wants to meet up with me that saturday, I’d probably be up for it.
Andrew recently made this post on the forums, asking about setting up a page on Reddit for his Q&A stuff. I am one of the mods for the homestuck subreddit, and I happened to be at the right place to see this post right away. I’ve helped to set up the new subreddit “askhussie”.
Andrew has indicated that he will be using this system to filter out questions that would normally swarm his Tumblr Ask box. Users with Reddit accounts can vote up or down the questions they see, and hopefully the best questions will rise to the top. Hussie will collect questions from the threads on this subreddit and answer them on his Tumblr.
The first post for these questions (with more details on how this is going to work) is over here.
HEY /r/HOMESTUCK AND PORTLANDSTUCK PEOPLE. HI. This is pretty much an introduction post for you people who don’t know me. This tumblr used to be for my friends and family back home, but I haven’t had the energy to keep it updated the way I used to.
For my IRL friends / family who *might* still be watching this even after I haven’t done anything for two months:
I’m pretty much abandoning the old style of this tumblr. I got out of the habit and pretty much forgot about this thing. Recently some of the users of /r/homestuck found out about this and started folowing me, even though I told them I don’t really use this. Then I recently attended my first IRL homestuck event, a Portlandstuck cosplay meetup. The meetup was AMAZING, I got to meet so many interesting people, but the organizer asked for tumblr pages for us to all keep in touch… So now I have a bunch of people following me from there too. So much for my “I’m not going to talk about homestuck” rule. This tumblr is now going to be used for me to keep in touch with portlandstuck people and for not much of anything else I think.
Hi followers. I’m HiddenKrypt (AKA “Rav-T” or “Travis”, IRL), moderator for reddit.com/r/homestuck and Portlandstuck Cosplay event attendee. If you’re not sure who I am from the meetup, I’ll just say I was surprised just how many complements I got for my mailbox.
Turns out I was just about the oldest person at the cosplay thing. I still don’t know what I think about that.
I plan on attending any other portlandstuck events that I can get to from now on. That means I’ll be there for each of the sunday meetings, and I’m planing on going to the promstuck event. I might just get a pipe and white hat to go as chaperon!Dad or something. I’m a bit too old and married to be looking for a date for prom, but the event sounds like it might be fun, so whatever.
About me: I am from Upper Michigan, here on the west cost for a 6 month internship which is almost four months over already. I’m married, 27 years old, and still in school working on a computer science degree with a Psychology minor. I play guitar and drums, but I spend the majority of my free time roleplaying on the internet as Kanaya or Rose from homestuck. I love music, and have a wide variety of tastes from hip hop to hard rock to electro to genres so rare even the hipsters in portland go Huh? (though I do not personally thing that the popularity of a song or band or genre diminishes it’s value) My music list can go from Foo fighters to Trash80 to the pokemon theme song to Queen to Dr. Steel to Justice to Dresden Dolls to Korn to Fiery Furnaces, and that’s leaving out the homestuck albums. I have a penchant for the anachronistic and dystopic, and my love of Kanaya and roleplaying Kanaya has combined with my wife’s love of fashion design to turn that into a full fledged hobby of mine as well.
I started reading MSPaint Adventures when it was in the first hundred or so pages of Problem Sleuth, and Homestuck has taken over my life in a pretty big way. My OTP is pretty much Rose <3 Kanaya <3 Vriska, with Vriska <3< Rose for the sweet sweet blackrom. Non-homestucks are excused from that last sentence (If you’re not a homestuck then you should already know me pretty well so why are you still here?). As stated I enjoy roleplaying homestuck characters on the internet like some type of total weirdo. I play on Trollmegle and Pesterchum occasionally, but as of late I’ve been getting really active in the play-by-post style roleplaying scene on Dreamwidth, getting into screwy games where characters from multiple stories/canons can meet up. You haven’t laughed until you’ve watched Bugs bunny hold up a “screw-ball” sign for the Grand Highblood.
Since arriving in portland, I have done three social gatherings over the last four months, all of them internet meetups. /r/portland from Reddit has a 10 person meetup that was pretty fun. /r/lgbtPDX and /r/actuallesbians had a meetup as well and that one was even more fun, with 20 attendees. I went to that one because I’ve pretty much always identified as an ally, and the people organizing the lgbt reddit meet up were really cool. Finally, I went to the portland meetup. Wow. 50+ people. That was beautiful. I pretty much never kept track of the people I met through the reddit meetups, but I’m going to be hanging out with the portland stuck people every sunday from now until I leave the area I think.
Before I jump into this, Some more housekeeping. I managed to fix the css more, making things much more readable. I fixed the squished images thing, the squished text thing, and made links the same size as the text around them (also a different color, so you can tell they’re links). Hopefully this will be a lot better. Images still always stay to the left but I’m ok with that for now.
I’m going to keep doing the “Previous posts” thing like I did there just now. However, there’s a better way to look at my posts. there’s a link at the top of the page called “archive”. That will show you all of my posts in order, and is a good way of going through to find a specific post or to just go to the first or last one. Also, I’m tagging these posts according to the type of work.
I opened up the “Ask” box. Click “Ask” at the top of the page to send me a message on tumblr. Comments, concerns, suggestions, complaints, or whatever you feel like. Note that I can choose to respond to them and I can choose to make it public as I do so.
Let’s get on with it.
PHASE ‘D’: PORTLAND, CITY OF HIPSTERS.
I finally landed at PDX, the Portland Airport. With all the pictures and listening to music pretty much the whole trip, my phone was getting pretty dead. After collecting my luggage, I found an odd machine. It was a phone charging machine. Pay three bucks to get a quick battery charge. There was a wall outlet next to the machine. Pretty much like putting a Dasani Machine next to a water fountain.
So I called Tracy and others to let them know I survived the Plane trip, but honestly I had already let them know I got on the plane in LAX so I had already passed the greatest danger. Then again I suppose the hordes of LA could have attacked the plane on the tarmac or something.
Next I got to enjoy a two hour trip on Portland’s MAX light rail system. Fun! Except not really. I was pretty tired, and the trip was mostly a blur. I caught a taxi from the train stop to get home.
I spent the next few nights sleeping on the floor.
We made a run to target to get some essentials. Food and plates and the like. We walked the two miles to the train station, then road it for two hours to get to the Target. This time I could ride the train in daylight, while at least somewhat rested from my sleep on the floor. (good thing Tracy packed me a blanket and my rain poncho!(I feel the need to explain. the Poncho is fleece lined. it’s pretty much a blanket that’s waterproof on one side(Yay nested parenthesis!))) If it was nighttime I might have missed sighting the rare hipstepotamus.
The train came to a stop, and the doors opened. She was sitting
At… On…in a bench right on the other side of the window from me. While the other passengers started boarding, she made no move to get on. This was no woman, this was two women and a bag of lard who had melted into a single mass and was currently attempting to absorb a bench. I don’t think she was going to get up for any train, unless someone had some WD40 handy. She looked like a cross between a stereotypical Emo-hipster and the women who use the motorized carts at walmart. I suppose the extra fat did give her more options for finding places to put a piercing.
Anyway we get to the target and buy super cheap Christmas discount bowls and cups and stuff, as well as a pot and pan, and utensils. Then we got cleaning supplies and food. We realized we had made a bit of a mistake though. After checking out we had over a half dozen bags each. And we had to carry them to the train, negotiate a transfer to a different train line, then we would still be two miles from home. What proceeded surely must have seemed comical from an exterior perspective, but to us it was a serious epic struggle with the forces of gravity and weakly designed bags. We ended up calling a taxi for the last two miles of the trip.
That lasted us the first few nights at least. I finally got to have my first day at intel. I can’t talk much about work in this space. I’m not allowed. So yeah. Sara knew a guy at intel who used to be an NMU student, and he gave us both a ride out to walmart. This way we could get a more serious load of stuff without having to carry it on the trains like a pair of morons. So we went all out. Got a microwave, a toaster, a vacuum, and a lot more food. I picked up a good air-mattress.
Pictured: A Good Air Mattress.
The next few weeks passed fairly quickly without too much to talk about. On the weekdays I do work. On the weekends I make a trip to walmart to buy the week’s rations. In my free time I hit the gym and talk with friends on the internet. Every day I call Tracy and talk for at least an hour. I wear a button down shirt and tie every day to work, even though I’m the only guy there who ever seems to wear a tie. I know there’s some level of “oh look at the new guy, all dressed like we have some sort of dress code.”, but I kinda enjoy the fact that I’m out-dressing my coworkers. Combined with my nice hat I’m pretty snazzy.
Look at this sexy beast.
Sara finally got me to go with her into Portland itself. I refused to go without taking some precautions. This is the heart of the beast. To reduce suspicion I opted to rely on camouflage. I carefully prepared a costume. Tracy sent me a shirt and scarf that helped to sell the effect.
Bring it on, Portland
I was ready to face the unwashed hordes of hipsters, disguised as one of them.
((Next time in the journal posts: We find some seriously awesome places in Portland, and my disguise backfires horribly! There will be pictures, possibly some horrific MSPaint art, and I’ll make vague promises about future posts which will turn out to be completely incorrect!))
Sorry about the lack of updates… looks like it’s been two whole weeks since I put one up. You know the way it goes, write a wall of text three pages long, get sick of it and convince yourself it’s garbage, edit and rewrite half of it, lose it all to a computer error and lose all motivation to try again…
Hopefully this time will stick. I’m going to break from the previous journal format. Don’t worry, you’ll get to see the stunning anticlimax of my trip to Portlandia soon enough. (I move to a city and suddenly a TV show about it is famous. Coincidence? I THINK NOT) Meanwhile, I’ve got a few things I’m just going to put up here really quick, to let you know what I’ve been doing with my free time as of late. Also, I think I’ll go off a bit on some of my ideas for the future of this bolg thing.
So first of all, contacts.
Due to technical barriers, I am currently limited in my choice of communications. My phone is always ready, but blocked more of the weekdays when I’m at work (8-5 PST). I can get texts when I leave my lab, which I do often, so that’s not bad. Voicemail doesn’t usually get me though. For some reason my phone doesn’t notify me of voicemails that I got while I was at work without some horrific delays (8 or more hours on occasion, pushing it into the point where I’m back in the lab again, causing that voicemail update to be lost in limbo)
I was going to type this all out, but instead I made a handy chart!
On a side note, I sent a link to this blerg to my mom. Hi Mom!
Other things that I’ve been / will be up to.
Mostly, I chat online with friends in my free time, pretty much through skype. I have a new webcam so I can do some video chat, but I’ve only really done that with tracy so far. Maybe I’ll put on a puppet show some time. And maybe I’ll come up with an idea that isn’t completly stupid. [note to self, write puppet show anyway, just to spite me]
I’ve gotten Livestream Procaster to run on here, so I will almost certainly be streaming some stuff at some point. I’ve had a few ideas there, and I’ll post about them whenever all the pieces are in place.
So for the future of this blogh.
I’m going to have more of those Journal style entries, and they will continue in order. They will be the same sort of narrative you’ve come to expect from this fine establishment. (You only did two posts of that, you pretentious douche. How can the expect anything at this point?)
I’m also going to have update posts like this one, just kinda going over my plans for things or what I’ve got going on, upcoming stream shows or maybe just a “Rav-T’s funny links of the week” thing, I dunno.
I’ll probably slip a few essays in there as well, things I’ve been meaning to write up for posterity and never really gotten around to it on. They’ll be on whatever topic I feel like at the time, in whatever style. They, like the rest of my posts, will likely continue to feature my horrible MSPaint art. If any of you have heard me rant about how big my Ego is, that’s probably going to be the first in this series. If you haven’t heard that rant, you’re in for a treat! I know you’ll enjoy it, because I’m going to write it.
I’m messing with the code that changes what this place looks like. I’m happier with it, but still not happy with it. Expect more changes when I get bored. I still want to get the titles of each post to be bigger and the images to stop getting crunched. Heck, if I can get the text in general to be bigger that would be nice. The layouts a bit more open now but everything is tiny.
[[EDIT:: played with the CSS some more. I got the text to be bigger, the links to be a different color, and post titles to not be smaller than the text in the post. I tried making the text bigger (we’re now rocking 12px font instead of 10, but theres some code somewhere changing the spacing of each line so the bigger the font, the more crunched everything gets. u.u
I got the images to not be squished, but haven’t gotten alignment to work on them. I’ll play with it some more. Is it too much to ask that my blerj be readable without eyestrain?]]
Sorry if this post is a cop-out or anything. I promise I will continue with the normal content soon enough. Till next time.
— HiddenKrypt, AKA veiledAutonym AKA Rav-T AKA Travis
I will continue to add links to the previous posts in each post. I might not keep updating them though, as the workload to do so will grow with each post and no. Just no. Also, if you want to leave notes here, you need to get a tumblr account and you need to “follow” me. then you can add notes, but only from your dashboard. I dunno. If you want to reach me, give me a text or a phone call or catch me on pesterchum as “veiledAutonym” or hit me up on Google+ or something.
Where were we? Oh yes.
Phase Third: ESCAPE FROM LA(X)
So I landed in LA, and was immediately met by a scene from some post-apocalyptic move. I know last time I made the typically predictable jokes about Detroit being a gang ridden hell hole, but man… LAX made DET look like The Titanic ballrooms (pre iceberg) I wish I thought to take a picture, but I was kind of in survival crisis mode. That happens when your plane apparently just dumped you in a building from Cloverfield after the special effects have all gone off.
Almost, but not quite like that. There aren’t enough vagrants.
Turns out our arrival gate was completely under construction. I wandered the chaos for a while, till I found a quiet corner of the world that actually gave me a cell phone signal and open wi-fi. I called tracy to let her know I had not yet been eaten by L.A. Mutants, fielded some texts from my parents, and took the time to get some good old fashioned trolling in. You see, there’s a friend of mine that lives in California, one that I have never met. I met her through Danielle. One time Danielle was texting with this California girl at the dinner table at Vango’s after larp. I asked her about them and she said that this was an internet friend of hers, a fellow fan of the webcomic Homestuck. I demanded her phone number, and soon three different people (Jason and Brett joined in immediatly) were texting this poor girl, all acting as Homestuck characters. Over time I would pester her here and there, and we’ve had a few good conversations. So, as I had a two hour layover to wait through, I decided to get on with one of my favorite hobbies. Trolling.
me—> Hey. Guess what? I’m in california. Right now.
Nic—> Oh man, really? What part of cali are you in? o:
Me—> I’m in LAX for a two hour layover. We should hang out. You can totally get here in two hours, right?
There’s a reason I have her listed in my phone as “Trolling Target”.
So I decided it was time to leave my sheltered corner of the airport, and try and find civilization. Dodging what I assumed were live power lines draped from the ceiling I continued on. One would assume that one could follow the crowds out, but no. They seems more lost than I was. Like cattle just aimlessly looking for a starbucks to graze at. I knew though, that this was not the place to let my guard down. I’ve been in big cities before, and I was prepared. My cellphone never went in the same pocket as my wallet, and my passport, boarding passes, and wallet were all tucked in my breast pocket which was zippered shut. Fuck you, thieves! I know you all are trying to get me!
Ok, wow. That’s not crazy or anything. Wandering around through the maze of deconstruction I eventually saw daylight. I stepped out of the bombed out building of a terminal and into civilization.
It is worth noting that at this time I was wearing what I took with me from KI Sawyer. normal shirt shoes pants underwear socks combo, with a hoodie and a winter jacket over that. When I left Marquette county it was about 20 degrees F. I didn’t go outside in detroit. LAX? 75. Seventy-Fucking-Five degrees, and I had to haul my big ‘ol winter coat around, as well as my hoodie. Apparently this offended the locals, as no less than three vehicles attempted to run me down. Every rumor or stereotype you may have heard about batshit crazy drivers in LA is true.
I also found out that by stepping into the sunlight I had been tainted. Airport security is rather strict on this. Any contact with the air around this place meant that I was a mutation risk. I had to go through a security sweep before they let me into my final terminal. (Apparently there was a shuttle I was supposed to take from my arrival gate to my departure gate. I didn’t see anything, but who knows when you’re crawling through debris.)
I got some overpriced Burger King as a lunch while I waited for boarding. Not much more of note there. This last plane was not the beefy 767 I got to enjoy from detroit, nor was it the tiny canada airways plane I had in KI. This was the Boeing 737. A real workhorse. It’s also old, getting to the end of it’s service cycle. That means it’s a little funny sometimes. Like where you can see between the wings and the flaps anytime they’re past 80%. Or where you can watch the airbrakes just kinda bounce up and down on the wing because the hydrolics only push them up, they don’t hold them down. I like having a seat with a view of a wing. For me the best part though was the engine power. The canada jet was pretty quick, being a lot smaller and thus lighter. But this thing MOVED. The little girl seated in front of me freaked out about the “smoke” coming off the wings. He mom seemed confused about what she meant. I told them both that it was a vapor trail, water being condensed by our high speeds. I was pretty trilled that we had vapor trails while we were six feet off the ground in 75 degree heat. I was impressed. I was also a little bummed because nobody else cared.
Then an hour and a half later we descended through the perpetual cloud cover and landed at PDX, portland. I’ll save the rest for next time though. I’m up past my bed time as it is and it seems I’ve written enough for now.
((Next time: adventures in mass transit, my new apartment, and maybe the ill fated Target trip. See you then!))

Phase 1, KI SAWYER.
So I got up at 4-something in the morning to get ready. My plane left at 6 am, and the airport was about thirty minutes away. Tracy drove me there with her fancy new driver’s license, just another big change we needed to go through so I could take this new job. She wanted to drive so I could sleep on the way to the airport, but honestly there was no way that was going to happen. I almost never sleep in cars, and on top of that I was in no way going to be calm enough to sleep.
On some level this was probably just nerves. I had a long journey ahead of me, through two major airports, three planes, and landing in a city I’ve never seen to find my way to an apartment I’ve never been to. One thing I didn’t need to worry about though, was the flight. If anything that was going to be the biggest factor in preventing my sleep: the Christmas Eve effect. I love flying, and I was really looking forward to the trill of takeoff.
We got to the airport and made our way inside. I kissed Tracy goodbye one last time before getting into the security area. While waiting in line, my dad showed up to wish me luck. I waived goodbye from the far side of the security station.
The aircraft I boarded was tiny. I had to hunch over a little bit to be able to stand in the isle. I had chosen a window seat though, so I could watch as we took off. I Was excited for this, it’s my favorite part o-
The windows are aligned with each seat. Sonofa.
I still got to see a little bit though, by leaning forward and looking out the next window up.
I was pretty much glued to that window till we hit cruising altitude. My seat mate seemed to avoid looking at me the whole time. That’s ok, I had a book to read.
PHASE 2: DETROIT
About an hour later I landed in Detroit. The captain told us that our arrival gate had changed. Whatever. Once I got off though I found out just what that meant. I was presented with this map:
I was in concourse B and had twenty minutes to meet my connecting flight in concourse A. Note the maps complete lack of instructions on how to get from B to A. I have made a more specific map to show you the other omissions.
When I say tunnel of insanity, This is not me making jokes. Seriously, this was not something I wanted to encounter while trying to make it to my connecting flight. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0jbOz9pta8&t=0m40s
Above: I think this guy works for airport security or something? He gave me a weird look and kept mumbling a poem or something.
I made it to my gate three minutes before boarding. Now here’s where things were planned just right. I was situated almost in the very front of the plane (four rows back), first class. I was like sixth in line for boarding. Shit was nice. Plenty of legroom, free drinks and an in-flight meal. This was the longest leg of my trip, Detroit to Los Angeles. My seatmate was a giant fatguy who slept through most the flight, but he was pretty grumpy when the stewards woke him for a meal or something. I just ignored the guy. He was inconsequential. I took some pictures out the window with my phone, but they aren’t that great. I mostly read my book, listend to music on my phone, and kept an eye on the window. I’m a sucker for interesting geography.
This song came up on me while we were flying over the Rockies, and I thought it was particularly well suited to flying over some majestic mountains.
Listen to this song:http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/track/lifdoff
And look at these pictures: http://imgur.com/a/cJScp#0
The window seat is the best seat. I was pretty much transfixed, watching these epic mountains and clouds fly by with some awe inspiring musical accompaniment.
“HELLO SIR WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR SIXTH DRINK TODAY?”
((Next time, L.A. and Portland! Pics of my new apartment! Exciting!))

I moved to portland, so I figured I needed to start a tumblr-blog.
So this is the start of my online journal, documenting six months of exile from my former kingdom. I am starting this blag to document a man’s descent into insanity as he is removed from friends and family for an extended time, and plunged into the hipster capital of the world. In this, my inaugural posting, I hope to lay out the details of what is to come. However, I know that this will be a living, evolving thing, changing with my every whim. That doesn’t mean I can’t lay out some guidelines now just to get things started.
My goal with this bloj is first and foremost to provide a centralized area for my friends and family (but honestly mostly my friends, for reasons to be detailed shortly) to keep up with my escapades while I’m gone. The second goal here is to entertain. I know I wouldn’t be able to do this 100% seriously anyway, so expect exaggerations, blatant lies and other moments of good storytelling to flavor these posts with humor and hopefully wit.
I’m afraid this will appeal to my friends far more than my family. My sense of humor more or less requires moments of profanity. I have never been one for self censoring, and I’m not going to start now.
I will not discuss homestuck here unless relevant to the story at hand. This is a favor to those friends of mine whom are not interested. I’ll start a second tumblr thing as a side project for those sorts of things, if I really want to go for it.
I am not above posting images of filth, as long as it contributes to what I see as funny. I’m not going to make this into “The Goatse Blog”, but who knows what I might feel like posting. I’ll try to tag anything too bad with [NSFW].
I can’t talk in great detail about work (corporate policies), but whatever.
All that said, let’s kick this bitch.
